What is Crossfit?


Crossfit optimizes fitness with constantly varied, functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. Crossfit offers great results as your body is constantly adapting to the always changing workouts and never reaching those frustrating plateaus. The functional movements that make up a crossfit workout are much like movements we use in everyday life such as squatting or lifting and are movements your body was naturally designed to do. Crossfit workouts typically involve bodyweight movements such as push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups; dynamic movements such as box jumps and wall-balls; and Olympic lifting including cleans, overhead squat, and deadlift. The CrossFit program is designed to be scalable, meaning any movement or prescribed weight can be adapted for each individual’s capabilities, making it possible for anyone to do regardless of their fitness level or experience.

Try it out!

Workouts are always scalable, meaning any fitness level can participate and get a great workout. That being said, if you are new to Crossfit, we recommend you first attend our Fitness or Burn class to become familiar with Crossfit movements in a safe, fun environment. If you have previous Crossfit training experience, and wish to attend one of our Performance classes, please email us or speak with one of our coaches prior to class to let us know your background. Community workouts Saturdays at 9:30am and 10:30am are always free and always fun!

Feel free to call, email, or stop bye prior to your first visit and we will look forward to welcoming you to your first CFKT class and address any expectations you may have.

What to expect at your first Crossfit KT class:

Upon arriving, you will be asked to add yourself to our member system and fill out a participant waiver form. It is simple and should take about 5-10 minutes before class to complete.

Each class led by one of our expert coaches is 60 minutes long and consists of a dynamic warm-up, explanation of the Workout of the Day (WOD), and strategy and instruction for achieving the best results in completing the WOD.  Then, we hit the WOD! Throughout the class, friendly and knowledgeable coaches give out corrections and encouragment, while they ensure the safety of each individual. WODs are always scalable, meaning any fitness level can participate and get a great workout.
